School Days

I'm so proud of Trenton. He's doing so good with his Pre-K school work. He know's his shapes and colors and he know's numbers 1-20 and can write numbers 1-10. He know's the alphabet and before he started Pre-K he could write most of his letters, although we have officially only learned Aa and Bb. We are working on knowing the sounds that different letters make. He enjoys using his scissors to cut lines and he loves to glue stuff. He has been learning about the weather and we are just about to start a unit on the 7 days of creation. Each day has a craft and a little song to go with it. He is usually very excited about doing school. His favorite thing to do is use Starfall.com on the computer. it's a great tool for learning for young kids.

Here are a couple of his writing papers he did yesterday for practice. He writes pretty well but still has problems with writing the number 8, which i can't blame him because I can't even remember the last time I made a "correct" number 8. I usually just make two 0's on top of each other for number 8 so I actually had to teach myself again how to do it the "correct" way. but overall he does really well.

A while ago I filled up at bucket with some uncooked rice and dry beans for Trenton to play in but lately we have been using it to practice measuring with the 1 cup and 1/2 cup measureing cups. Ava likes to play along too.

Here are a couple of TJ's Christmas crafts that he insisted on haning on the tree. I guess from now on I get to look forward to seeing these things all over our Christmas tree. :) He is proud of them so I guess they stay....at least for this year. I can't promise they won't get "lost" by next year.

First up is the scary Christmas Angel. This one he made at MOPS and he was so proud of it. I'm pretty sure this one won't make it on the tree next year. I might save it though, just because it's so scary looking with it's strange hair and big eyes.

This one he made in Sunday School and he told me that the church is all out of baby Jesus's so they had to use a popscicle stick and paper towel for a blanket. :) Imagine that, a church fresh out of Baby Jesus's.

Tell TJ that PaPa and LaLa are proud of him! He's doing such a great job! It helps that he enjoys learning so much. Enjoy the "scary" angel on the tree. I was too busy trying to have the "perfect" tree that I missed out on how important it was to you kids. Looks like he could use a bigger pan for playing in the rice.

mom---i'be been looking for a better container for it. I need one that is like 2.5 feet long and about 6 inches high or so that has an air tight lid. I can't seem to find one though so they use that until i can find one better.

i cant believe the beans and rice actually stay in the bin

also writing 8s are easy... its so much faster to amke it the right way than 2 circles on top of each other

Em--they know they have to keep in the container or they have to put it away. i don't mind if a few peices come out now and then, because i just vacuum it up or the dog eats it. they are pretty good about playing in it "nice".
