Kids are weird.

Kids are weird. There is no trace of anything he had when he was a baby in his room right now. No pacifiers, no baby toys, no nothing.....except, that blue bear on the left and the jungle animal receiving blanket he's laying on. Most nights he has to make sure that the blanket is spread out on his pillow and the bear is laying next to him. it's funny the things that kids get attatched to. It's kind of sweet that he is attatched to the bear though because it's the teddy bear that his Great Grandma Schimp gave him when he was an infant, and she passed away when he was not quite a year old. The receiving blanket he was swaddled with since he was a week old. it's been torn 3/4 of the way in half and resewn together. it's been left at a hotel for 3 nights and we had to go back and get it on our way back home. It's still the first thing he grabs when he's ready for bed.

Trenton last night...

TJ with blanket at one year old.

and sleeping with his bear 16 months old.

I think he will be the sentimental type. he already has a hard time throwing things away like old broken toys or sunday school papers or things like that. It will be interesting to see if Ava is that way too.

I was attatched to a blanket until I was about 10 and then my mom THREW IT AWAY WITH NO WARNING!! Talk about devistating. (don't deny it mom...I know you did it. it scarred me for life...just like when you tried to get me to quit sucking my thumb).

awww that's sweet - i dont think there's anything wrong with having a favorite blanket

although you say "sentimental" and "doesn't want to throw away old toys" i hear "future hoarder" :)

mom seriously? i had a white blanket and it had blue satin around the edges and it kept ripping at the seams and you just threw it away when you thought i was old enough to not have a blankie anymore. and for the thumb sucking you put all kinds of things on my thumb at night to get me to quit like hot spices or finger nail polish on my thumb nail or things like that.
