Here is what we have been up to in the past month. If you are friends with me on Facebook you have seen some of these before as well as others. It's easier and quicker to upload to facebook so that's why I post a majority of the pictures there. But I know a couple of my blog readers don't use Facebook so I will repeat some of the pictures.
Here is how our homeschool room turned out. We spend about 2 hours a day here and then we do outside activities and other hands on activities in other areas of the house or outdoors. We try to do school while Ava naps because she can become quite a distraction, unless she is very interested in something in her "fort" under the table. I try to have little hands on activities for her to do but sometimes I just don't have time or I forget; so nap time is a good time for school in our house! Also, we do MOPS on thursday mornings so on that day morning time school is out anyway.

Science time. Trenton loves doing these little hands on experiments. our Abeka curriculum does not have science for Kindergarten so I have supplamented some things for him for science. He loves to know how things work, and why. he's very mechanical minded so I thought he would enjoy a bit of science thrown in.
Making a Volcano out of playdough and vinegar and baking soda.
Learning names of shapes for review
Trenton is doing cursive writing this year. Letters learned so far: A,E, I, O, U, L, T, N, M
Hands on Math Puzzles
Art Time. This is my favorite thing to do with him. This day he was painting a fall tree using a q-tip to make dots for leaves.
This year I wanted to do some other science/nature things with him that are not a part of our curriculum, so I decided on a nature journal. He loves to go to the park and hiking trails and even just around the neighborhood collecting things from nature. If it's a flower or leaf we press them in a book for a few days then Modge Podge them to a sketch book and label what they are. This day happened to be be Birch bark, and maple leaves.
We found this Praying Mantis in our yard this weekend. I thought it was pretty cool so we caught him and observed him for a while. I have never seen a brown one.
Fun on the hiking trail. THe kids like to bring a bucket to collect thier nature things.
Our visit to our local orchard. Pumpkins, corn mazes, peacocks, apples, and fun!
Random pictures of Ava from this month
The kids "helping" clean up the leaves in the front yard. their job is to stomp down all the leaves so we have more room in the trash barrels for mores leaves.
Being silly at Pizza Hut waiting for our pizza

Love the pics. as always. Love to see TJ doing the science projects. He and Ava are learning so much. I love the pic. of TJ kissing you-so sweet. Love the pic. of TJ and Ava jumping off the haystack. How did you get such a good shot- were you laying down on the ground? I take such awful pics. I've said it before but you do a great job with the kids.

Mom--
I love the science experiments too! and I love doing art stuff with him. The pics of them jumping off the haystack was from Me and barak sitting on the ground and pointing the camera up when they jumped. Made it look like they were high up.
