Last year I went to the dentist in the town we used to live in and to my surprise the dentist told me that I needed to have 4 cavities filled and also that I had beginning signs of gingivitus(sp?) since my gums bled a bit after the poked them with a sharp thingy(COME ON!! DUH!). she said i would have to do 4 sessions of gum therepy. so I was really in shock because my teeth didn't even hurt or anything, i was just going in for a check up and NO DENTAL INSURANCE. so of course I told them there was no way i could get all that work done(estimate was like 700 dollars!). So i told them to just fill the cavity that was the worst and the rest would have to wait. well a year went by and I never went back and we moved and i forgot all about it, untill last week when I started having some pain in my back tooth. Great...here we go again.
So i went to a different dentist closer to where I live and they give free xrays and dental exam on your first visit which saved us 200 bucks! and the whole way to the dentist office yesterday I just kept praying..."please Lord do not let this cost and arm and a leg." i was just hoping for a lower quote than i got the year before. So i go in and get my xrays done and I'm sitting there watching TV(yeah, they have plasma tv's with remote right in your exam room for while you wait!) finally the doctor comes in. He is a really nice guy too by the way, and he was like so WHY ARE YOU HERE?! i explained to him the scenario. then he puts my xrays up on the screen and tells me that there are NO CAVITIES AT ALL!--(Praise Jesus!) He said he wishes he had teeth like mine! WHAT!?! i couldn't believe it! he said that the tooth pain i was feeling was probably the sensitivity to the filling that was put in last year. apparently they can become very sensitive afterwards. the pain is gone now so i guess i just chewed something that was hard or something. I told him i was so mad at that previous dentist for them telling me that. he said sometimes dentists do that when their business is slow or when someone MIGHT, MAYBE, SOMEWHERE DOWN THE ROAD, need a tooth filled. He said if there is any kind of tiny little shadow onthe xray they call it a cavity even when its not. (please note: the previous dentist only did 2 xrays, and this office did at least 12) He siad he wishes he could take my money, but there is no point in drilling in teeth that are perfectly fine!
geez...i'm so mad at that last dentist. i have half a mind to call them up and yell at them for taking advantage of me. i'm so glad that I never went back there! and such a relief and answer to my desperate prayer in the car, that this visit would not cost me a lot of money. in fact is was 100% free! although, i will go back later this month and get a routine cleaning. but first...its barak's turn in the dentist chair!
and speaking of Doctors...Trenton has a doctor appointment on MOnday for shots and a well baby check up.
we got a truck load of wood delivered to our house yesterday. barak has been out splitting it for the wood burner. our house gets to like 70-75 degrees now by just heating with wood. we are saving a lot of money not having to run the heat!
here are some pictures of TJ helping stack the wood...or sort of!

i'd rather pay the electric wood that do all the manual labor of cutting and stacking the wood
also- really glad to hear about your teeth - sounds like that's a great dentist - i know how you feel. back when i first found out i had to get my implant my current dentist was really pushing me to get a bridge and i alway felt like that was the wrong way to go - because a bridge ruins the teeth next to it too... so i went to another dentist and talked them about it and they said get an implant, and my oral surgeon was telling me to get the implant. i always felt like that other dentist just told me to get a bridge because that woul dhave been more money for him.
anyway - stick with that dentist - sounds like a good find.
