We had a pregnant rabbit in our yard a few weeks ago and it kept trying to dig a nest by Schatzi's kennel. Since we have a garden and the rabbits last year liked to get in and eat our vegatables we obviously do not want rabbits in our yard again. So we have been chasing the rabbit away whenever we see it. the past week the rabbit has been hanging around in the day time and Trenton always chases it out of the yard. well today we found out why the rabbit won't leave. Trenton found the rabbit's nest right up next to our house and just a few feet from the garden. the rabbit's nest was not very deep, maybe 4 inches or so and we found 6 babies in there. I didn't want to touch them with my hands because they mama might reject them so I put on some gloves and pulled them all out.

They were so cute! So tiny that their eyes weren't even open yet. I felt bad moving them but if I didn't then they would get bigger and then there would be 7 rabbits in our yard trying to eat stuff out of our garden. We moved them to an open field area behind our neighbor's house and hopefully the mama will find them.
Trenton of course wanted to keep them.
The only problem is, the neighbor has an outdoor cat so I hope the babies don't cry very much or that cat is going to find them. I might go check the place we left them tomorrow and see if the mama found them or not. I read that rabbits only nurse for 5 minutes a day and the mama will come find them at night at nurse them for 5-6 weeks. So she may not come to find them untill night time.
They sure were cute though.

so do you know if the babies lived?

I think they did. I went back and checked on them the next day and they were still there. they weren't crying so I'm guessing the mom found them and fed them. they seemed fine.
I was going to ask the same thing...LOL!
